How many hours I listened to different genres of music over the course of ten days.

Reflection

During the last five days, I recorded the amount of time I listened to my six most consumed genres of music. As I recorded my data, I made little mental observations about why I was listening to certain genres opposed to others. I determined that my listening patterns mainly revolved around two variables: what I was doing and who I was with. This can be seen when examining Hip-Hop/R&B (The genre I listen to most) as I usually listen to it when I’m about to go to bed. It takes up most of the total hours listened as it is personally my favorite genre and relaxes me before I go to sleep so I don’t have to take other’s music tastes into account. On the other hand, house was lower than most as it was divided up into two separate instances I was either getting ready for the day, or hanging out in a dorm with friends. I listen to house in the morning as it is good, high energy music to get ready to, but that impacts its total time listened to as it doesn’t take that long to get ready. Overall, I made some interesting observations about my listening patterns and had fun uncovering the context in which I tended to listen to different genres.
